This wasn’t the best Jim Butcher book, but it did introduce some interesting characters and some interesting facts. The end was a bit nail biting too which made up for the lack luster book content. I love books that Thomas makes an appearance, he’s so swoon worthy… which is what Jim Butcher was going for me thinks. If you are a fan of porn movies then you might enjoy this book since the majority takes place on a porn movie set. 🙂
Harry ends up wita new friend in this book and Thomas reveals an earth shattering secret. You end up cheering for Inari Raith and hating Tricia Scrump: AKA Trixie Vixen. You’ll never guess who Arturo Genosa’s new wife is going to be and who is really behind the entropy curses.

This is the last reread of the Dresden Files I did before the new book came out.

This is book 5 in the Dresden Files series, and perhaps one of my favorite books. So much happens in this book that I can’t even begin to describe it without giving something away. I think it’s awesome that the Shroud of Turin is involved, that piece of history has always fascinated me! If you have made this far into the Dresden Files series, you probably know that James Marsters narration has gotten 100% better. I love, love this book.

Ghost Story: The Dresden Files, Book 13 by Jim Butcher
Finished: September 22

This is book 13 of the Dresden Files series. When we reached this book I was filled with dread because I realized that currently there were only 14 Dresden books! I did not, and still do not, want this series to end! I love it so much; I might just be able to marry it!

When we last left the mighty wizard detective Harry Dresden, he wasn’t doing well. In fact, he had been murdered by an unknown assassin. But being dead doesn’t stop him when his friends are in danger. Except now he has no body and no magic to help him. And there are also several dark spirits roaming the Chicago shadows who owe Harry some payback of their own. To save his friends – and his own soul – Harry will have to pull off the ultimate trick without any magic….
Due to scheduling conflicts, there’s a new Dresden narrator in town. You may already know John Glover from Smallville, and we think he’s done a great job capturing Jim Butcher’s world. We hope you enjoy his performance.

Yeah, book 12 left in a cliff hanging, WTF kind of moment. I was a bit irked to see the short stories to be in between myself and book 13, but boy did things fall into place better thanks to the short stories.
Book 13 is interesting, as Harry is a ghost… but I liked it. I however was not pleased that this book has a different narrator then what I am accustomed to. I will say, despite my doubts, this narrator was not horrible… he gave it his own sound for sure… but it was tolerable.
So, yeah, next comes book 14… dun, dun, dun

Changes: The Dresden Files, Book 12 by Jim Butcher
Finished: August 5

Another Dresden book, once again I loved it! Of course! 

Long ago, Susan Rodriguez was Harry Dresden’s lover – until she was attacked by his enemies, leaving her torn between her own humanity and the bloodlust of the vampiric Red Court. Susan then disappeared to South America, where she could fight both her savage gift and those who cursed her with it.
Now Arianna Ortega, Duchess of the Red Court, has discovered a secret Susan has long kept, and she plans to use it – against Harry. To prevail this time, he may have no choice but to embrace the raging fury of his own untapped dark power. Because Harry’s not fighting to save the world…He’s fighting to save his child.
This book was action packed, and a little sad. I really think this building up a climax to later books. Although, the point can be made that this book in itself is a roller coaster! Very fun to read, enjoyed it a lot!

Small Favor: The Dresden Files, Book 10 by Jim Butcher
Finished: June 4
See, now we really are almost caught up, too bad I have 1 more posting left, and no ability to get it out! 🙁
This is yet another Dresden book, and I will be totally sad when this series is over! This book has to do with a “small favor” that Dresden owes to Mab, the Queen of the Winter Fae. It starts with Dresden teaching his apprentice how to make shields in her backyard while her sibilings throw snowballs at her. They are quickly interuppted by none other than the Billy Goat Gruffs! There is more than three of them in Dresden, but I still had to laugh a bit. In Dresden, the gruffs are enforcers of the Summer Fae court and they are after Dresden. The Gruffs are Servants of Summer and the origin of the Three Billy Goats Gruff story, with the heads, fur, and legs of goats but the torso and arms of a man (albeit a large man). They increase in size, much as the storybook version, as they become older, until apparently the Eldest Gruff. This is apparently also reflective of their temperament, growing larger and angrier until the Eldest Gruff, who appears to be extremely level headed, and even reluctant to finish his task. The Eldest Gruff is of the size of a wizened human, but with incredible magical power . Queen Mab offers the winter knightship to Dresden once again, and again he refuses. Dresden is charged by Mab to protect our good friend, and local crime lord, Johnny Marcone. The Fallen Angel things are back from the book Death Masks. The Archive, or “Ivy” is back too with Kincaid as well. A really good book and like other Dresden books before it, I can’t wait to get to the next one! Almost there too, and it’s going to be great!

Death Masks (The Dresden Files series book 5) by Jim Butcher

Yeah, so I have started the new habit of reading 2 books simultaneously. I find I have the chance to read more that way.
This is book 5 in the Dresden series, and certainly 1 of the most entertaining by far.
This has a religious touch to it since it deals with “the shroud” the one Jesus was wrapped in for burial.
Taylor and I both really enjoyed this book. I love the narrator, I love the way the author writes the books… there’s always something funny, serious, and a little of everything in each book!
Plus, Taylor enjoyed it since a certain character wasn’t around much in this one. *rolls eyes*
I really enjoyed it because a new favorite character of mine that showed up in book 3 came back in this one.
He’s a playboy vampire, and he is just hillarious! Thomas showed up in book 3 and has been a “friend” to Dresden ever since.
This book has a lot of action to it, but it just left me wanting book 6!
Damn having to wait for more Audible credits!
Look out for one of the next couple of posts, I am currently reading a suggested book! 🙂
Anyways, I am close to brain fried, and don’t want to ruin this post anymore than I already have!
Go read the Dresden series, I highly suggest it!
